South Africa: Business Analyst – Parktown, Johannesburg – Fixed-Term Contract (12 Months – Hybrid) – 450 PH posted by E-Merge

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our team on a 12-month contract based in Parktown. The successful candidate will play a critical role in translating actuarial and business requirements into system solutions, particularly within rating engines and insurance product configuration in a Short-Term Insurance environment.

This role requires a highly analytical professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills, deep understanding of insurance pricing structures, and experience working in Agile delivery environments.

Required Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Business Analysis Certification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field
• Agile Certification
• Technical knowledge including:
  • SQL
  • API fundamentals
  • Data modelling
  • XML

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in IT Business Analysis
• At least 5 years within the Short-Term Insurance industry

3-5 years’ experience working with rating engines including:

• Data dictionaries, data mapping, and product configuration
• Designing and interpreting data flows, sequence diagrams, and ERDs
• Working with APIs, system integrations, and SQL for data retrieval and validation
• Translating actuarial/pricing models into system requirements
• Exposure to multiple insurance products across Commercial and Personal Lines

Required Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of insurance product structures and premium calculation logic (risk factors, discounts, loadings, fees)
• Practical experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar case management tools
• Excellent documentation skills (BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria)
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail
