South Africa: General Litigation Attorney

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced General Litigation Attorney to join our team in Johannesburg, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing High Court and Magistrates Court litigation matters end-to-end, providing high-quality legal services to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage High Court and Magistrates Court litigation matters end-to-end
• Draft pleadings, affidavits, applications, notices, and legal correspondence
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions and litigation strategies
• Attend court appearances and manage all procedural steps in matters
• Consult with clients and provide regular updates on matter progress
• Manage debt collection and selective family law matters
• Liaise with counsel, court officials, and third parties as required
• Maintain full responsibility for file management, deadlines, compliance, and billing readiness

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
• Minimum 3 years PQE in litigation
• Strong experience in High Court and Magistrates Court litigation
• Solid drafting, research, and case management skills
• Ability to work independently and take full ownership of matters
• Strong work ethic with a focus on accountability and delivery
