About the Role

The General Manager: Operations position is a critical role that requires a seasoned professional to drive business objectives and ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, establishing and accomplishing business objectives, and maintaining quality service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain profit contribution by managing staff and ensuring compliance with SLAs
  • Execute effective planning, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organizing, and decision-making to attain profit targets while ensuring compliance to SLAs
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan through studying technological and financial opportunities, presenting assumptions, and recommending objectives
  • Ensure the realization of objectives by establishing plans, budgets, setting results measurements, allocating resources, and effecting continuous progress review
  • Coordinate efforts by establishing procurement, production, field, and technical services policies and practices; coordinating actions with corporate staff
  • Assign accountabilities, planning, monitoring, appraising job results, developing a climate for information sharing, and providing development opportunities
  • Build and uphold the company image through collaborating with customers, community organizations, employees, and enforcing acceptable ethical business practices
  • Maintain quality service standards by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Stay abreast of current industry trends through attending professional seminars/workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, continuously imploring benchmarking, and best global practices
  • Enhance staff effectiveness through recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counselling, communicating values, strategies, and business objectives
  • Manage staff performance and facilitate improvement by regularly monitoring performance and providing required coaching, support, and feedback
  • Manage employee relations, workplace conflicts, and effect corrective actions in line with company policies/procedure

Requirements

  • NQF Level 7: Degree or Advanced Diploma
  • Matric
  • Valid Drivers License
  • 5 years of managerial experience within the Cleaning & Hygiene Services/Facilities Management Industry
  • Knowledge of OHS Act, ISO 9001 Quality Management, and Risk Management Systems
