About the Role

As a Health and Safety Officer at HERMISCAN PTY LTD, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our employees and maintaining a safe working environment. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments, and implementing preventive measures to prevent accidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments to establish preventive measures and safe working procedures.
  • Ensure the organization meets all relevant occupational health and safety legislation (e.g., local Acts).
  • Oversee accident investigations, analyze data for trend analysis, and document corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Facilitate or coordinate mandatory training such as first aid, firefighting, and emergency evacuation.
  • Perform routine on-site audits to ensure safety equipment is functioning and personal protective equipment (PPE) is properly utilized.
  • Act as a liaison between management and employees to address safety concerns, promote a safety-first culture, and organize safety committee meetings.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in health and safety or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (e.g., LLB, BCom).
  • Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
  • Valid first aid training certification.
