About the Role

Our client, a specialist supplier of quality handles, fittings, and related products, is seeking a professional and customer-focused Junior Counter Salesman to join their team in Tygervalley, Cape Town. As a key member of the sales team, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, product knowledge, and sales advice to residential, commercial, and retail customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist walk-in customers with product enquiries, selections, and purchases
  • Provide professional product advice and recommend suitable solutions based on customer needs
  • Process sales transactions accurately using the POS system
  • Prepare quotations, invoices, and sales orders where required
  • Follow up on customer enquiries, quotes, and outstanding orders
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure excellent service at all times
  • Assist with stock availability checks and liaise with relevant departments regarding product supply
  • Support showroom and counter sales activities to help achieve sales targets
  • Ensure product displays and the sales counter area are neat, organised, and professionally presented
  • Capture and update customer and sales information accurately
  • Assist with receiving, checking, and organising stock when required
  • Promote additional or complementary products to increase sales opportunities

Requirements

  • Matric / National Senior Certificate
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own reliable vehicle
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar counter sale, hardware, fittings, interiors, building supplies, or related retail environment
  • Previous POS system experience
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel experience
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
