Job Description
- Bachelors Degree or National Diploma in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with at least 3 years in the mining industry.
- Proven experience working on mining infrastructure, plant construction, earthworks, or related heavy industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of contract management principles. (FIDIC experience advantageous)
- Proficiency in cost control systems and MS Office. (advanced Excel required)
- Experience with project management and cost management software.
- Ability to work on-site in a mining environment.
- Professional registration with a recognized body (e.g., RICS or equivalent) will be advantageous.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Cost Management & Control
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for mining projects.
- Monitor project expenditure and track costs against approved budgets.
- Identify cost variances and provide mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and present regular cost reports to management.
Contract Administration
- Administer contracts in line with project requirements and company policies.
- Review, evaluate, and process contractor claims and payment certificates.
- Prepare and manage variations, change orders, and contractual correspondence.
- Assist in contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
Procurement Support
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents and bills of quantities.
- Evaluate tenders and provide commercial recommendations.
- Ensure procurement processes align with cost and project objectives.
Project Support & Compliance
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct site measurements and valuations.
- Support audits and financial reviews related to project costs.
