About the Role
The Abattoir Manager will oversee all abattoir operations, ensuring efficient workflow, resource allocation, and adherence to production schedules while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety. This role requires a strong understanding of food microbiology, hygiene practices, and regulatory frameworks, as well as excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all abattoir operations, including slaughtering, processing, and packaging.
- Implement and maintain HACCP and ISO 22000/9001 standards across all processes.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
- Liaise with veterinary and regulatory authorities to ensure legal and ethical standards are upheld.
- Monitor microbiological and hygiene standards throughout the facility.
- Develop and enforce sanitation protocols to minimize contamination risks.
- Lead corrective and preventive actions in response to non-conformances.
- Manage and train staff on food safety, hygiene, and operational best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology (or related field).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HACCP and ISO standards implementation within the food processing or meat industry.
- Strong knowledge of food microbiology, hygiene practices, and regulatory frameworks.
