About the Role

The Draughtsman (Design & Manufacturing Support) plays a critical role in ensuring that all products are correctly translated from concept into manufacturable designs, producing accurate and detailed 2D and 3D drawings for industrial fan systems and related components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting & Design Support
  • Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Solid Edge)
  • Prepare general arrangement, assembly, and fabrication drawings
  • Ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and aligned with company standards
  • Maintain drawing registers, revisions, and document control systems
  • Fabrication & Workshop Support
  • Produce clear and practical fabrication drawings for workshop use
  • Generate cutting lists, BOMs, and sheet metal development layouts
  • Provide drawing support to workshop teams during manufacturing and assembly
  • Resolve drawing-related issues with fabrication staff
  • Quality & Documentation Control
  • Ensure all drawings meet internal quality standards and specifications
  • Maintain structured drawing libraries and revision control
  • Support quality control documentation through clear drawings and markups
  • Assist in standardizing drawing templates and formats
  • Product Development Support
  • Assist engineers with updating and modifying existing designs
  • Support the development of new fan products through drawing updates and revisions
  • Prepare drawings for prototype builds and testing
  • Cross-Functional Support
  • Liaise with production, sales, procurement, and engineering teams
  • Assist with technical documentation required for projects and quotations
  • Support continuous improvement of drawing efficiency and standardization

Requirements

  • Matric
  • Draughting Qualification
  • Strong drafting and drawing interpretation capability
  • Good understanding of fabrication processes (welding, sheet metal, machining)
  • Experience creating fabrication drawings and assemblies
  • Basic knowledge of BOM creation and workshop requirements
  • Exposure to industrial fans or HVAC systems (advantageous)
