About the Role

MacDonald’s Transport Upington Ltd is seeking a seasoned Fleet Controller to oversee the day-to-day operations of our long-distance transport fleet. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supervisory/managerial roles and a deep understanding of the logistics industry. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing assets, staff, and customer service levels while ensuring compliance with statutory and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assets and staff under your control to meet budget objectives and maximize vehicle utilization
• Plan loads, routes, fuel, overnight locations, and other logistics to ensure efficient operations
• Investigate accidents/ incidents, submit documentation, and maintain accurate records
• Maintain high levels of discipline within the operations team
• Prepare and submit leave schedules that do not impact customer requirements
• Perform administrative duties and document control tasks as needed
• Manage Drive-Cam and tracking reports, including submission of monthly management reports
• Meet service level agreements with customers

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in supervisory/managerial roles
• Knowledge of the long-distance transport industry
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation, planning, and communication skills (verbal & written)
• Bilingualism is essential
• Relevant tertiary qualification in logistics will be an added advantage
