About the Role

The Youth Development Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Magaliesburg Youth Development Centre, a live-in position on site. This role requires a dynamic and innovative individual who can manage all professional, youth-oriented, and support service activities on the residential campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer the facility in compliance with applicable organisational Policies/Procedure, the Childrens Act No 38 of 2005 and its regulations;
  • Develop and manage budgets for the Youth Development Centre and ensure that expenses stay within budget guidelines;
  • Implement the procedures, practices, and controls prescribed by the Chief Financial Officer;
  • Attend to all administrative duties (business plans, various reports, consultation feedback, performance appraisals etc.);
  • Assist in the development of written publications and other documents;
  • Attend all required and relevant meetings;
  • Supervise the Senior Social Worker, Senior Child and Youth Care Worker, Support Services Manager, and Professional Nurse;
  • Liaise and engage with other GBT Departments;
  • Develop staff into a cohesive team with themselves as a leader and head and ensure that the Girls and Boys Town Programme is implemented;
  • Ensure the completion of all Treatment Plans and Individual Development Plans as per the required timelines;
  • Act as the frontline person in managing consumer grievances (where media activities are routed directly to the CEO);
  • Engage in regional networking activities;
  • Introduce, organize, and facilitate development and education/training programmes for staff;
  • Do duty at our Holiday Camp as per duty Roster.
  • Be contactable and available 24 hours a day.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work
  • Registration with the Council for Social and Associated Workers
  • 3 years experience in residential care
  • 8 Years of social and youth-related work experience
  • Previous experience working in a Child and Youth Care Centre setting
  • Previous experience in developing clinical youth-centred treatment and Individual Development Plans
  • Financial management of the regional finances and budget oversight
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the management, monitoring, and supervision of therapeutic team members
