Our client, a well-established and highly respected financial services organisation, is looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to join their Information Systems team.
This role sits at the heart of their hybrid technology environment and is ideal for someone who thrives on automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust DevOps processes across both Linux and Windows environments, supporting legacy systems and modern, containerised workloads. The role offers exposure to Kubernetes, CI/CD maturity, infrastructure-as-code, and enterprise-grade systems in a highly regulated environment.
The client is specifically seeking a hands-on implementer – someone who can take ownership of projects and lead implementation, not only monitor or maintain existing environments.
This role requires an individual confident in driving DevOps initiatives end-to-end, including rollout, optimisation, and scaling of platforms.
Duties
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for both Windows (.NET) and Linux workloads, including containerised applications
- Develop, maintain, and optimise automation scripts using Ansible (Linux) and PowerShell (Windows)
- Manage and support shared services infrastructure including message queues, object storage, logging platforms, and reverse proxies
- Deploy, manage, and scale containerised workloads on Kubernetes, ensuring high availability and performance
- Implement infrastructure-as-code principles for provisioning, configuration management, and patching
- Administer and support Windows and Linux servers, including .NET API environments
- Monitor system health, performance tuning, and log aggregation
- Maintain and optimise RDBMS databases from a DevOps perspective
- Implement security, monitoring, and compliance standards (observability, secrets management, patching)
- Collaborate with developers, sysadmins, and QA to improve delivery processes and support releases & incidents
Job Experience & Skills Required
Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant BTech (essential)
Experience
- 6 years’ experience in DevOps / Systems Engineering / related
- Strong Linux administration (Ubuntu, CentOS, or similar)
- Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Docker & Kubernetes (deployments, services, ingress, Helm)
- Azure DevOps pipelines, repos, boards
- PowerShell & Bash scripting
- NGINX / HAProxy, DNS, load balancing, networking
- SQL Server (basic management & automation)
- Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Graylog)
- Azure Cloud exposure
- Object storage (S3, MinIO) & message brokers (RabbitMQ)
- CI/CD for .NET & containerised apps
- Experience in Kubernetes transition environments
- Financial services / asset / wealth management exposure advantageous
