About the Role
We are seeking an Enrolled Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team at Complete Healthcare Services in the Western Cape. As a key member of our care team, you will work closely with patients and their families to provide high-quality care in the comfort of their homes or facilities. Your duties may include caring for patients with tracheostomies connected to ventilators, elderly individuals with dementia, quadriplegic patients with PEG tubes, and palliative patients nearing the end of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing basic care, assisting with personal hygiene (washing, dressing, grooming, feeding, support with moving, toileting)
- Administering medications under supervision of the registered nurse or family
- Documenting patient condition and progress
- Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLS) for patients
- Monitoring vital signs of patients and recording
- Performing basic wound care
- Managing feeds of a tracheostomy baby using a feeding pump
- Observing changes in patient condition and recording in the daily report
- Assessing sleep routines of patients and discussing with registered nurses to adjust care plans
Requirements
- Diploma as a qualified Enrolled Nurse
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- First Aid Certificate an advantage
- Good communication skills with supervisors, colleagues, patients, and family members
- Knowledge of dealing with emergency situations with a patient in their home
- Knowledge of Geriatric Care, Paediatric Care, Dementia Care, Post Stroke Care, Ventilation Care
- Good knowledge of Catheter care (indwelling, supra pubic, intermittent)
- Prevention of pressure sores in bedridden patients
- Good knowledge of trachea care or experience working with tracheostomy patients and observing suctioning techniques
- Prevention of infection in all patients
