About the Role
Our client is seeking a technically strong and self-driven Millwright to join their engineering-focused team. This is a hands-on, outcome-driven role suited to an individual who thrives in problem-solving environments and takes ownership of results rather than simply executing tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and wire electrical panels.
- Create drawings of existing electrical panels.
- Read and interpret electrical and PLC diagrams.
- Troubleshoot PLC-related issues (rudimentary programming will be advantageous).
- Install and fault-find various instrumentation.
- Wire factories and equipment.
- Refurbish equipment and pumps.
- Cost equipment and project works.
- Work on client sites, including travel and occasional overnight stays.
- Understand, set up, and program VSDs.
- Work with motor and gearbox drive systems.
- Deliver defined outcomes independently without constant supervision.
Requirements
- Qualified Millwright (trade test completed).
- Proven experience in industrial electrical and mechanical environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and PLC diagrams.
- PLC training and practical experience will be advantageous.
- Wireman’s License will be advantageous.
- Instrumentation experience will be advantageous.
- Pump experience and relevant training will be advantageous.
- Welding ability (arc, MIG, or TIG) will be advantageous.
- Experience with VSD setup and motor/gearbox drives.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work on-site and travel when required.
- Strong work ethic and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Naturally organized with structured work habits.
- Ability to make decisions within assigned responsibility levels.
- Trustworthy and able to function without micro-management.
Salary & Benefits
Approximately R33 000 – R50 000 (depending on experience)
