Key Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
- Perform installations, servicing, repairs, and maintenance on industrial woodworking machinery and equipment.
- Conduct electrical and mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic assessments on complex machinery.
- Complete repairs and maintenance to ensure machinery operates at optimal performance levels.
- Assist with the assembly, testing, and commissioning of newly imported machinery and equipment.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on second-hand machinery received in-house.
- Maintain accurate service, maintenance, and repair records.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and company standards.
Customer Service & Administration
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients.
- Respond effectively to customer enquiries, technical questions, and complaints.
- Manage outstanding technical quotations and customer commitments.
- Represent the company, its products, and suppliers in a professional, approachable, and service-driven manner.
- Identify opportunities to promote and sell machines, spare parts, and consumables.
Operational & Team Support
- Participate in team meetings and support company objectives.
- Assist with the training and development of fellow team members where possible.
- Attend trade exhibitions, conferences, and industry events.
- Assist with exhibition setup and breakdown activities.
- Maintain a neat and professional showroom environment.
- Ensure responsible use, care, and maintenance of company vehicles and assets.
- Participate in ongoing technical training and e-learning development programmes.
- Familiarise yourself with company procedures, policies, and documentation.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Qualified Electrician with a valid Trade Test (Red Seal Certification).
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical, maintenance, or service-related role.
Language Requirements
- Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English.
Technical Skills
- Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- General IT literacy and experience working with CRM systems or related software.
- Valid Code B driver’s licence.
Highly Advantageous
- Previous experience within the woodworking machinery industry.
- Experience working with industrial machinery, manufacturing equipment, or production machinery.
- Knowledge of CNC machinery, woodworking equipment, or related machine technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, plans, and manuals.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and controls.
- Mechanical background with hands-on experience working on machinery and equipment.
- Familiarity with PLC systems and automation.
