About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our luxury lodge team. As the trusted second-in-command in the kitchen, you will be responsible for supporting the executive chef in menu planning, supervising food preparation, and ensuring that every dish meets the highest standards of taste and presentation. In a remote, hospitality-driven environment, you will balance creativity with precision, bringing local flavors to life while maintaining consistency across service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in implementing kitchen standards
- Manage all administrative departmental duties (staff files, off-day schedule, hygiene standards etc.)
- Proactively maintain all kitchen equipment
- Ensure strict hygiene and safety practices are upheld throughout the kitchen
- Mentor junior staff members to develop their culinary skills
- Co-manage all stock controls, ordering processes, and stock rotation
Requirements
- At least 3-5 years of Sous level experience within a luxury safari establishment (preferred)
- A formal culinary qualification
- Excellent written and verbal communication across all departments
