Pretoria: Fire Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to join our team in Pretoria. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire protection engineering and be able to hit the ground running, with a focus on design, installation, and management of fire suppression and detection systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and install fire suppression and detection systems in various industries
  • Mining industry experience recommended
  • Prepare and submit fire plans (as a minimum)
  • Design and implement sprinkler systems
  • Perform smoke control calculations
  • Design fire detection systems
  • Create rational fire designs with reference to BS 7974 and supporting PDs
  • Utilize international sprinkler codes such as NFPA & FM Global
  • Develop performance-based engineering designs using engineering design software
  • Manage engineering projects for fire protection system installations (Stage 5)
  • Draft fire plans according to SANS 10400-T and interface with fire departments during the approval process

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or Relevant qualification
  • 2-4 years of experience in fire protection engineering
  • Design and install fire suppression and detection systems
  • Mining industry experience recommended
  • Fire plan preparation and submission (as a minimum)
  • Sprinkler system design and implementation
  • Smoke control calculations
  • Fire detection system design
  • Rational fire design with reference to BS 7974 and the supporting PDs
