Johannesburg: IT Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Johannesburg. As the primary point of contact for ITSM ticketing, you will be responsible for troubleshooting complex technical issues, analyzing logs and reporting, monitoring user systems, and ensuring that IT hardware resources and capacity planning are up-to-date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the primary escalation point for ITSM ticketing, troubleshooting complex technical issues
  • Analyze logs and report on system performance to users in scope
  • Ensure IT Hardware resource and capacity planning
  • Contribute to IT Infrastructure projects/major changes, including expressing user needs, planning implementation priorities, specifications, tender, supplier choice, and user acceptance testing
  • Custodian of group norms and policies, ensuring compliance with company IT catalogue
  • Manage IT Infrastructure related contracts and SLAs, reviewing suppliers’ contracts for company requirements and applying penalties for non-compliance
  • Maintain and update documentation of procedures and configurations
  • Ensure IT Infrastructure management is compliant with ISO processes, ITIL processes, and QHSE

Requirements

  • Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science
  • ITIL foundations certification
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Active Directory environment (added advantage)
  • Strong knowledge in server hardware, operating systems (Windows/Linux), storage, and virtualization technologies
  • Proficiency with networking (LAN, SD-WAN, VLANs, switches, firewalls, routing protocols)
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with Azure cloud platform (added advantage)
  • Network/telecom certifications (Aruba and/or Cisco) appreciated
