About the Role

Our client, a leading technology-driven organisation, is seeking an experienced Back-End (Java) Developer to join their team in Johannesburg. As a key member of the development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance, scalable, and secure client-facing web systems that integrate with hardware, software, and cloud services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-performance, scalable, and secure client-facing web systems
  • Design and implement back-end APIs and core business logic for new features and enhancements
  • Build and manage integrations between hardware systems, mobile applications, and web platforms
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimise cloud databases, servers, and system performance
  • Manage and maintain DevOps pipelines to ensure continuous integration and delivery
  • Respond to system incidents and ensure minimal downtime through effective troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver cohesive solutions

Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in back-end or software development
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Java and frameworks, such as Spring Boot
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly AWS
  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps)
  • Strong database experience (MSSQL, MySQL, and cloud databases)
