About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Vertical Boring Mill Programmer to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for programming and operating complex CNC machines to manufacture high-quality components with tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Program CNC Vertical Boring Mills using Fanuc controls and onboard manual programming (G-Codes and M-Codes)
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately
- Set up machines, including tooling selection, fixture setup, and workpiece alignment
- Perform prove-outs on new programs and make necessary adjustments to optimise performance
- Operate machines to manufacture components within required tolerances and quality standards
- Conduct first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments
- Optimise programs to improve cycle times and machining efficiency
- Troubleshoot programming and machining issues
- Ensure adherence to safety, housekeeping, and company procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience as a CNC Vertical Boring Mill Programmer
- Extensive experience with Fanuc controls
- Proficient in onboard programming using manual G-Codes and M-Codes (non-CAM)
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
- Experience machining large components and tight tolerances
- Competent in machine setup and operation
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, etc.)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
