About the Role

The Technical Specialist (Production) role is a critical position within our production team at SA Metal Group’s Cape Town facility. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production lines, implementing quality control measures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain production equipment, including steel melting furnaces and rolling mills
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure product consistency and meet customer requirements
  • Collaborate with production team members to optimize production workflows and reduce downtime
  • Develop and implement new processes and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on production equipment as needed

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical role, preferably in the metal recycling or manufacturing industry
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical processes and production operations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex information to non-technical stakeholders

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field (not specified)
