About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Nurse to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As an integral member of our theatre team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and surgical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in ophthalmic surgeries, maintaining a sterile environment and handling surgical instruments correctly
- Provide high-quality pre-operative and post-operative care to ophthalmic patients
- Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other theatre staff to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Perform scrubbing duties for ophthalmic procedures as required
- Support and monitor patients undergoing local, regional, or general anaesthesia
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with hospital policies
- Adhere strictly to infection control, health, and safety standards at all times
Requirements
- Matric
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Over 5 years of nursing experience, including theatre experience
- Previous experience in ophthalmology or related disciplines is preferred
- Scrubbing experience in ophthalmic surgeries is highly advantageous
