About the Role

An opportunity has become available for an experienced Maintenance Planner to join a major industrial manufacturing and power generation operation in the Mpumalanga region. This role is ideally suited to an energetic, highly organised, and technically minded individual who thrives in fast-paced heavy industrial environments and is capable of coordinating maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, and engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed maintenance plans for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and shutdown schedules.
  • Prioritise work orders according to operational criticality.
  • Coordinate labour, tools, spares, and contractor requirements.
  • Ensure all job packs contain scope, drawings, permits, and safety documentation.
  • Plan and coordinate major plant shutdowns and annual maintenance outages.
  • Support refurbishment and plant upgrade projects.
  • Coordinate new equipment installations and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor critical-path activities and resource loading.
  • Manage work orders and maintenance history in the ERP/CMMS system.
  • Liaise with procurement and stores to ensure timely availability of parts and materials.
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, engineering, and operations teams.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Artisan Trade Test (Mechanical, Electrical, Fitting, Millwright, Boilermaking, or similar) highly advantageous.
  • Relevant qualification in Maintenance Planning, Engineering, or Project Management advantageous.
  • Minimum 38 years experience in maintenance planning or maintenance coordination within heavy industry.
  • Experience in manufacturing, biomass power generation, boilers, utilities, or process plants advantageous.
