Deal Maker Small Business & Regional Finance

  • Mpumalanga
  • Permanent | Mid-Level

A leading development finance institution is seeking an experienced Deal Maker to evaluate funding applications, conduct due diligence, structure viable transactions and contribute to regional economic development objectives.

This role requires a strong financial and analytical professional who can assess risk, interrogate financial statements, structure funding solutions and manage approved transactions through to first disbursement.

Key Responsibilities:

Transaction Evaluation & Structuring

  • Evaluate funding applications across financial, technical and/or marketing disciplines

  • Conduct detailed due diligence investigations

  • Structure transactions using appropriate financing instruments

  • Identify, assess and mitigate transaction risks

  • Negotiate financial, legal, EHS and commercial terms

Deal Optimisation & Portfolio Management

  • Align transactions to strategic and industry development objectives

  • Prepare comprehensive credit proposals and funding assessments

  • Manage approved deals through to first drawdown

  • Maintain accurate client and portfolio data

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with applicants and portfolio clients

  • Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate transactions

  • Promote the unit externally and maintain high service standards

Learning & Team Contribution

  • Share knowledge within the team

  • Mentor and coach Business Analysts where required

  • Drive personal and professional development

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant Commercial or Technical Honours Degree (NQF Level 8)

  • 58 years related experience

  • At least 23 years in assessment and closing of transactions

  • Experience managing approved deals through to first disbursement

  • Competence in at least two due diligence disciplines (Financial, Marketing or Technical)

  • Strong financial statement interpretation skills

  • Knowledge of structured or development finance products advantageous

  • Sector exposure beneficial
