About the Role
The Centurion: Land Systems Design Engineer is a critical role within our organisation, requiring an experienced mechanical engineer with expertise in land-based platform design and development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality designs and collaborating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems for land-based platforms (vehicles, weapon mounts, mobility systems, and structural assemblies)
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection
- Conduct FEA, structural analysis, and design validation testing
- Support prototype builds, testing, and production handover
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (electrical, systems, and manufacturing)
- Ensure compliance with military and industry standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 37 years of experience in mechanical design (defence or heavy vehicle industry preferred)
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks / CATIA / Inventor or similar)
- Experience with structural steel, armor systems, or heavy mechanical assemblies
- Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes (welding, machining, and fabrication)
