About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at PlaceTalent in Gauteng. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of general accounting principles and experience with reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and month-end close processes. As a key member of our finance operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, working closely with the Financial Manager to support overall finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and post journal entries and accruals
- Manage month-end close and reporting processes
- Maintain and reconcile cashbooks
- Oversee invoicing and supplier expense capturing
- Support stock control processes and systems
- Assist with vehicle leasing accounting and related entries
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Work closely with the Financial Manager to support overall finance operations
Requirements
- Relevant accounting qualification
- Articles experience is advantageous but not essential
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks without constant supervision
- Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and month-end close processes
- Exposure to stock control and stock systems
- Experience with invoicing, supplier expense capturing, and cashbook management
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage Evolution, Odoo, or Xero is beneficial but not required
- Exposure to US-based companies or accounting practices is advantageous
