About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Toolmaker/Toolroom Manager to join our team at Tubecon Africa Ltd, where you will be responsible for managing and operating the Tool Room efficiently while designing, manufacturing, maintaining, and improving tooling for steel tube production. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical ability, leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to ensure minimal downtime and continuous production improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, manufacture, and maintain roll tooling for steel tube production lines
- Develop and optimize roll designs for various tube profiles
- Operate and program CNC machines (turning, milling, etc.)
- Operate conventional/manual machines (lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, etc.)
- Ensure tooling accuracy, quality, and dimensional compliance
- Troubleshoot tooling and production-related mechanical issues
Requirements
- Qualified Toolmaker (Trade Tested preferred)
- Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment (steel/tube industry advantageous)
- Strong CNC and manual machining experience
- SolidWorks proficiency
- Strong understanding of roll tooling and tube mill processes
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
