Job Description

A wellestablished shortterm insurance company in Tygervalley, Cape Town is looking for an ambitious Actuarial Analyst to join their Pricing and Modelling team, offering exposure to traditional actuarial work, modern analytics, and close collaboration with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, clean, and prepare data from multiple sources using SQL and Python
  • Perform advanced data analysis using statistical and machine learning techniques
  • Build, test, deploy, and maintain predictive pricing models under guidance
  • Support underwriting risk management, pricing strategy, and risk segmentation
  • Develop and maintain management information and reporting dashboards (Power BI)
  • Communicate insights clearly through reports, visualisations, and presentations
  • Contribute to automation and continuous improvement of risk and pricing systems

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or a related discipline
  • Progress toward or completion of A100 and A200 actuarial exams

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within the shortterm insurance industry
  • Exposure to pricing (advantageous)
  • Experience working with actuarial or risk models

Skills:

  • Strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical ability
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools
  • Knowledge of statistical modelling and machine learning techniques
  • Attention to detail, strong documentation, and reporting capability
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
