Job Description

Prepare detailed cost estimates for E&I projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor pricing
Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and scope documents
Conduct site visits where required to assess project requirements
Compile Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and tender documentation
Source and negotiate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
Analyse project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities
Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project teams
Ensure compliance with client specifications and industry standards
Assist in tender adjudication and contract negotiations
Maintain a database of historical costs and pricing benchmarks

Minimum Requirements:

National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation
3–8 years’ experience in E&I estimating within EPCM, construction, or industrial environments
Strong understanding of electrical systems, control systems, and instrumentation
Experience with tendering processes and cost estimation software
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and P&IDs
Proficient in MS Excel and estimation tools

Key Skills & Attributes:

Strong analytical and numerical skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Commercial awareness and negotiation skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Nice to Have:

Experience in mining, oil & gas, or renewable energy projects
Knowledge of SANS standards and local regulations
Exposure to turnkey or EPC project environments
