About the Role

AFWH is seeking a highly skilled Certified Checkpoint Engineer to join our team in Pretoria, South Africa. As a key member of our IT infrastructure, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and security of our network’s Check Point firewall environments.

Key Responsibilities

Configure, manage, and maintain Check Point firewall environments across the network.
Monitor firewall performance, traffic, and security events to ensure optimal protection and uptime.
Implement and maintain security policies, NAT rules, VPNs, and threat prevention features (IPS, Anti-Bot, Anti-Virus).
Troubleshoot network and security issues, including connectivity, latency, and packet inspection.
Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and system hardening in line with best practices.
Collaborate with network teams to design and support secure architectures (LAN, WAN, DMZ).
Generate reports on firewall usage, threats, and compliance for management and audits.
Support incident response and assist with root cause analysis and remediation.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of Check Point firewall configurations and security policies.
Experience with network protocols and security event management.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.

Qualifications

Certified Check Point engineer (CCIE or equivalent) required.
Relevant work experience in network security and firewall administration.
