About the Role

A small, practical and hardworking engineering team is looking for a skilled Mechanical / Steel Fabrication Draughtsman who can think outside the box and work independently. This role requires a hands-on individual who is confident in fabrication design, detail drawing, and industrial mechanical components.

Key Responsibilities

• Create accurate fabrication drawings for structural steel components
• Draft staircases, platforms, railings, tanks, silos, chutes, hoppers, or conveyors
• Produce workshop-ready drawings with accurate Bill of Materials (BOM)
• Utilize welding symbols, fabrication tolerances, and assembly standards
• Develop sheet metal designs and generate GA drawings
• Create 3D assemblies and generate BOMs from drawings
• Understand industrial machinery layouts and mechanical component drafting
• Apply knowledge of fabrication processes including cutting, rolling, bending, and welding effects on design

Requirements

Valid drivers license

Mechanical engineering or steel fabrication drawing experience

Proven experience creating fabrication drawings for structural steel components

Experience drafting staircases, platforms, railings, tanks, silos, chutes, hoppers, or conveyors

Ability to produce workshop-ready drawings with accurate Bill of Materials (BOM)

Strong knowledge of welding symbols, fabrication tolerances, and assembly standards

Experience with sheet metal development and GA drawings

Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential) and Autodesk Inventor (advantageous)

Ability to create 3D assemblies and generate BOMs from drawings

Knowledge of industrial machinery layouts and mechanical component drafting
