About the Role
As a Senior Exploration Geologist with MECS Africa, you will lead field exploration programs from target generation to resource definition. You will be responsible for designing drilling programs, managing geological data, and mentoring junior staff, ensuring all gold mineralization models are accurate and compliant with international reporting codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and supervise greenfield and brownfield exploration drilling programs (diamond, RC, and aircore)
- Develop and update robust 3D geological and structural models to guide exploration vectors and define high-grade gold targets
- Oversee QA/QC protocols, logging, sampling, and assay database management to ensure the highest integrity of resource data
- Mentor and manage field geologists, geotechnicians, and contract crews to maintain safety standards and operational efficiency
- Prepare technical reports, exploration updates, and resource estimates in accordance with SAMREC/NI 43-101 standards
Requirements
- Degree in Geology or Earth Sciences
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with a strong focus on gold deposits
- Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, Micromine) and GIS applications (ArcGIS, QGIS)
- Deep understanding of QA/QC protocols and public reporting codes (SAMREC/JORC)
