Job Description
The Relationship Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Corporate and Commercial Banking clients, acting as their primary point of contact and trusted financial advisor.
The successful candidate will work closely with clients to understand their business objectives, identify opportunities for growth, and deliver tailored banking and financial solutions that create long-term value. The role requires strong commercial acumen, relationship-building skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal product and credit teams.
Alternatively, the client is open to considering high-calibre professionals from outside traditional banking who bring:
- Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
- Experience managing strategic client relationships in sectors such as mining, agriculture, engineering, oil & gas, or professional services.
- Proven commercial, business development, or deal origination experience.
- A strong interest in transitioning into Corporate & Commercial Banking.
This opportunity is open to Namibian citizens, as well as suitably qualified candidates based outside Namibia who are open to relocating.
Key Focus Areas
- Manage and grow a portfolio of Corporate and Commercial Banking clients.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact.
- Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships through cross-selling and tailored banking solutions.
- Conduct regular client reviews to understand evolving business needs and proactively identify opportunities and risks.
- Collaborate with credit, product, and operations teams to deliver seamless client service and effective solutions.
- Monitor portfolio performance, ensuring compliance with internal policies and risk frameworks.
- Support business growth through client retention, wallet share expansion, and strategic relationship development.
- Maintain strong market awareness and industry knowledge across key sectors.
Job Experience and Skills Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Agriculture, Geology, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification (Honours, Master’s, MBA) or professional certifications such as CFA, CA(SA), or CIMA will be advantageous.
- Approximately 5–7 years’ experience in Relationship Management, Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Business Banking, or a client-facing commercial role.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, credit fundamentals, and commercial banking products.
- Industry exposure to sectors such as agriculture, mining, engineering, oil & gas, or investment banking will be advantageous.
- Proven success in relationship management, portfolio growth, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and client management skills.
- Commercially driven with a strong focus on delivering value to clients.
