About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Assistant Tasting Room Manager for a prestigious 5-star wine estate in Constantia, Cape Town. As part of an award-winning hospitality group, this role involves hands-on management of a high-standard cellar door operation, with a focus on developing a team and maintaining premium guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the full cellar door operation to maintain premium guest experience and sales targets
- Recruit; train, schedule and develop the cellar door team
- Manage stock control, cash management and daily financial reconciliation
- Provide weekly sales reports and maintain administrative systems and records
- Initiate local marketing programs to build community and industry relationships
- Coordinate and host special events and functions from planning through to execution
- Assist the Tasting Room Manager with benchmarking, budgeting and operational improvements
Requirements
- Matric and Hospitality Diploma essential
- WSET qualification or wine course
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in a similar tasting room or wine sales management role
- Comprehensive knowledge of wine, wine club operations and cellar door management
- Strong leadership, staff scheduling and training ability
- Excellent administrative, stock control and cash management skills
- Sales-driven with the ability to achieve and motivate toward revenue targets
