About the Role

As a Senior Millwright in our client’s food manufacturing company, you will lead the construction and maintenance of machinery to achieve optimum production output. Your role is crucial in driving the maintenance team towards excellence and maximizing plant uptime. With a focus on diagnosing faults, replacing defective parts, and leading machinery installations, you will play a key part in ensuring minimal plant downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance team activities to ensure minimal plant downtime.
  • Diagnose and rectify all electrical, instrument, and mechanical faults using engineering practices.
  • Lead the installation and dismantling of machinery according to layout drawings and blueprints.
  • Replace defective parts, adjust clearances, and align machinery using hoists, jacks, and hand tools.
  • Adhere to strict safety guidelines and maintain awareness of safety risks at all times.

Requirements

  • Trade Test Certificate: Millwright (Red Seal)
  • Proficiency in industrial hand/power tools
  • Ability to understand blueprints
  • Strong leadership, planning, and coordination skills

Qualifications

  • Wiremans license
  • Ammonia handling training
  • Experience with PLC (S5), AC/DC drives, or HMI is advantageous.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Senior Millwright to join our client’s food manufacturing team in Atlantis, Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the construction and maintenance of machinery to achieve optimum production output.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance team activities to ensure minimal plant downtime.
  • Diagnose and rectify all electrical, instrument, and mechanical faults using engineering practices.
  • Lead the installation and dismantling of machinery according to layout drawings and blueprints.
  • Replace defective parts, adjust clearances, and align machinery using hoists, jacks, and hand tools.
  • Adhere to strict safety guidelines and maintain awareness of safety risks at all times.

Requirements

Trade Test Certificate: Millwright (Red Seal) is required. Proficiency in industrial hand/power tools and the ability to understand blueprints. Strong leadership, planning, and coordination skills. Must be comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders or platforms. Must have own reliable transport. Flexibility to work fluctuating hours including standby, weekends, and public holidays.
