About the Role

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef for a luxury hotel based in Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to join a high-performing kitchen team within a premium hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising and supporting daily kitchen operations in line with senior management direction
  • Assisting with planning, organising, and coordinating kitchen workflows and service delivery
  • Ensuring high standards of food preparation, presentation, and timing at all times
  • Preparing and cooking dishes to required standards and assisting across all sections when needed
  • Supporting menu planning and recipe development alongside senior chefs
  • Training, mentoring, and supporting junior kitchen staff
  • Ensuring compliance with strict health, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Assisting with stock control, ordering, and monitoring kitchen supplies
  • Managing stock rotation and minimising food wastage
  • Assisting with stock takes and monitoring kitchen costs
  • Supporting recipe management, updates, and staff training on new dishes
  • Ensuring all kitchen areas are clean, organised, and properly maintained
  • Assisting with staff performance management and operational discipline where required
  • Ensuring all equipment is maintained and reporting any faults or hazards
  • Supporting general kitchen administration and operational duties as required

Requirements

Certificate or Diploma in Professional Cookery

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar kitchen role

Strong culinary skills with excellent attention to detail

Solid understanding of kitchen operations, stock control, and food costing
