About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our client in Cape Town, a thriving Managed Service Provider. As a key member of the data team, you will drive data-led decision-making, delivering strategic insight and influencing key business outcomes. You will have the opportunity to work on complex data projects, develop and maintain scalable reporting solutions, and lead initiatives that improve data maturity across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of key data domains, contributing to the development of data models, standards, and best practices to support scalable analytics across the business.
- Apply advanced analytical techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities, proactively identifying insights that drive operational and commercial performance.
- Design, develop, and optimise Power BI dashboards within the Microsoft Fabric framework, ensuring reporting is scalable, user-focused, and aligned to business priorities.
- Lead the development of complex T-SQL queries and Python-based data solutions to support advanced analytics, automation, and efficient data processing.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to understand business challenges, translate requirements into analytical solutions, and influence decision-making through data storytelling.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Junior Analysts, promoting best practices in analytics, data modelling, and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to streamline data workflows, automate reporting processes, and improve data quality and governance across systems.
- Champion data accuracy, consistency, and integrity, establishing frameworks to improve trust and reliability in business data.
- Present complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership, driving understanding and action.
- Leverage Advanced Excel capabilities and analytical tools where appropriate to support deep-dive analysis and rapid insight generation.
Requirements
- 5+ Years of experience in Data Analytics or a related role.
- Advanced experience in Data Visualisation tools such as Power BI (preferred), Tableau, or similar platforms.
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL and/or Python for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- Experience working with modern data platforms (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or similar environments).
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining scalable reporting solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and translating business needs into analytical solutions.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and automation techniques.
- Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
