About the Role

As a Financial Accountant at Rory Mackie & Associates, you will be part of our global Finance team operating across three regions: South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. You will collaborate with colleagues across different regions, providing valuable exposure to our clients’ global operations. This 12-month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic and evolving regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the accounting, tax and statutory reporting of our clients’ companies
  • Be responsible for the preparation of regular board reports and regulatory returns
  • Take responsibility for month end accounting processes
  • Prepare VAT returns
  • Monthly management reporting
  • Draft Annual Financial Statements
  • Liaise with the auditors for the year end audit
  • Liaise with the tax service provider for the annual tax return
  • Review and approve invoice batches from the accounts payable team
  • Work on ad-hoc projects
  • Keep abreast of accounting, tax and regulatory changes
  • Collaborate with other Finance team members
  • Collaborate with other teams to enhance cross-functional effectiveness

Requirements

  • Eligible to register CA(SA) or registered CA(SA) with 1 – 3 years post articles
  • Relevant Financial Accounting experience outside of audit
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, Power BI, SQL, Oracle Fusion or Hyperion Essbase
  • Ability to research, analyse and implement changes in IFRS and regulatory requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to get involved with all levels of the accounting and reporting process
  • Previous management or financial accounting experience as well as experience with VAT highly beneficial
