About the Role
Farm Manager SA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Developer to join their team, focusing on agri-technology solutions. As a key member of the sales team, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, driving sales growth, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and secure new customers to achieve annual new business sales targets
- Market and sell returnable packaging and technology solutions into the agricultural sector
- Drive sales of the full Agri-technology suite, including: Spray applications, Harvest systems, Scouting solutions, Asset management platforms, Pruning visibility tools
- Identify and close packaging opportunities across harvest, storage, and equipment supply channels
- Engage with customers to understand operational needs and translate these into solution requirements
- Collaborate with internal technical, innovation, and key account teams to ensure solution alignment
- Maintain strong customer relationships through proactive engagement and issue resolution
- Interface regularly with large and strategic customers
- Monitor market trends, competitor pricing, and product developments
- Prepare monthly sales reports, including variance analysis
- Contribute to research initiatives and stay informed on industry developments
- Attend relevant workshops, exhibitions, and trade shows to maintain technical and market knowledge
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, IT, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years’ sales experience, with at least 3 years in the agricultural supply chain
- Strong understanding of agricultural and logistics-related technologies, including: Web and mobile applications, Hand-held scanners with RFID/barcode readers, BTLE devices and fixed RFID systems, IoT instruments and GPS tracking solutions, Packhouse and factory integration equipment
