About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager: Freight to join our team in Durban. As a key member of our commercial leadership, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth and profitability through strategic planning, client relationship management, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to drive revenue growth and profitability
- Manage key client relationships and negotiate high-value contracts
- Identify new business opportunities within shipping and road freight markets
- Lead pricing strategies, tenders, and contract management processes
- Collaborate with operations to ensure service delivery aligns with client expectations
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments
- Provide leadership and guidance to the sales and commercial teams
- Prepare and present financial forecasts, budgets, and performance reports
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field
- Minimum 8 years of experience in the freight/logistics industry
- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or senior business development role
- Strong knowledge of shipping (sea freight) and/or road freight operations
- Demonstrated success in contract negotiation and key account management
- Solid financial acumen and strategic thinking ability
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
