About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Fermentation Specialist to join our team in Durban, responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our fermentation plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of plant unit operations and fermentation technology, with experience in executing plant procedures to meet productivity, efficiency, food safety, and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute plant procedures to meet productivity, efficiency, food safety & quality targets
- Continuous monitoring of plant parameters
- Reviewing of analytical results
- Taking corrective actions
- Liaising with and coordinating maintenance activities on utilities and fermentation plan with the Maintenance and Project Managers
- Updating the production schedule or plan to ensure that the weekly production target is met
- Conducting weekly stock takes
- Confirming WH stock take variances
Requirements
- Good understanding of plant unit operations
- Explicit understanding of fermentation technology
- BSc or MTech Chemical Engineering / Biotechnology (essential and non-negotiable)
- Minimum 5 years in fermentation plant operations
- 2 years supervisory experience is essential and non-negotiable
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications: BSc or MTech Chemical Engineering / Biotechnology
