About the Role
Our client, a leader in the printing industry, is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join their team based in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO and food safety standards
- Oversee quality control processes across flexographic printing, lamination, and finishing operations
- Ensure consistent product quality, including color accuracy, print registration, adhesion, and durability
- Lead internal and external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements
- Manage non-conformances, customer complaints, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and root cause analysis tools
- Supervise and develop the QA/QC team, including lab technicians and inspectors
- Collaborate with production, technical, and supply chain teams to optimize quality performance
- Approve raw materials and ensure supplier quality compliance
- Oversee laboratory testing and calibration of quality equipment
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Printing Technology, Packaging, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in a quality role within the printing or flexible packaging industry
- Strong knowledge of flexographic printing processes and materials (films, inks, adhesives)
- Experience with ISO 9001 and/or food safety standards (e.g., FSSC 22000)
