About the Role
The Maintenance Technician role is a critical position within our organization, responsible for ensuring the efficient maintenance and upkeep of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment across various facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Installations & Modifications: Responsible for electrical change design (Cable routes, cable ladders, changes to the Distribution board, machine relocations) and installation & commissioning of electrical reticulation and new equipment.
- Sizing of electrical components depending on the electrical load requirements.
- Update electrical single line diagram drawings.
- Machine rigging and mechanical works.
- Ensuring all work is conducted to the SANS code of practice and electrical COC’s are issued.
- Contractor management and price sourcing.
- Maintenance: Multidisciplined Maintenance of the all machine according to sound practices and original equipment manufacturer specifications.
- Working with control systems and PLC’s.
- Analyse critical spares and differentiate between bought out spares from OEM, alternate spares and spares that can be manufactured locally to reduce the cost.
- Multidisciplined Maintenance of offices and factory infrastructure.
- Ensures that the alternate power supplies are available and ready to switch over during planned and unplanned power interruptions.
- Factory lighting and UPS’s maintenance.
- Mandatory Inspections: Substation LV & MV maintenance, Power Factor Correction, Earth Leakage testing, Generator Inspections.
- Management of contractors: Responsible for ordering of machine spares, stocktaking and maintaining an efficient stock level.
- Fault finding and problem solving.
- Ability to repair and retrofit engineering equipment.
- Diagnosis problems trough interrupting drawings and error codes.
- Record keeping and tracking of breakdowns and preventative maintenance on each piece of equipment/machinery in order to establish: Frequency of breakdown Quality of parts and Costs.
- Ability to make informed decisions on whether to change parts, suppliers and or equipment.
- Root cause analysis.
- Effectively carries out the preventative maintenance of production machinery, air compressors, air-conditioning systems, fire systems, wetworks, effluent streams and electrical reticulation to improve reliability.
Requirements
- Knowledge: Minimum qualification – N6 Trade Tested 1 appointment.
- Skills: Ability to read and understand diagrammatic instructions, Demonstrated skills in designing equipment, plant and processes, Proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Projects.
