About the Role
The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing and controlling our Durban operations to achieve our budgeted financial targets, ensuring that client support is maintained, and productivity is maximized. This role requires a strong leader with excellent administration skills and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage operational staff, consider succession planning and training in terms of the company policy and budget.
- Ensure that no business is lost due to poor service levels or inaccurate or deficient operational performances.
- Keep clients appraised of shipment status and provide prompt, efficient, and courteous attention to service delivery at all times.
- Resolve client complaints and queries quickly and efficiently, being personally involved where necessary.
- Conduct regular client visits and engagement to ensure service excellence and client retention.
- Service existing clients at all levels.
- Review transporters/third-party suppliers and ensure only reliable and reputable service providers are dealt with.
- Assist operational staff with their duties and provide guidance and technical support where required.
- Review operational systems and procedures in terms of ISO, recommend and/or initiate changes as appropriate to improve performance.
- Participate in audits and ensure non-conformances are resolved.
- Assist with the acquisition of new business.
- Ensure all business is conducted within national and international legal requirements and shipping and airline policies.
- Monitor and control customs refunds, provisional payments, and customs issues.
- Review rates and tariffs on an ongoing basis, recommending and making adjustments where necessary.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification.
- MS Excel.
- Strong Leadership skills.
- Strong Multimodal experience.
- Excellent administration skills and attention to detail.
- Strong planning and organising abilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
