Durban: Toolmaker Foreman (Automotive)

About the Role

The Durban-based Toolmaker Foreman is a critical role within our automotive production team, responsible for ensuring efficient and effective tooling management, maintenance, and improvement. As a key member of our production engineering environment, you will play a vital part in implementing Continuous Improvement strategies, managing personnel, and upholding company vision and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in and support the ME plans on existing and new production lines.
  • Utilise all allocated resources within your control effectively at all times.
  • Participate in daily production and project related planning.
  • Ensure all agreed to ME facilities, tooling, jigs & fixtures improvements are timeously planned and implemented as requested thru implementation and or reported losses.
  • Planned tasks are carried out according to planned Schedule Labour control best practices
  • Ensure equipment and spares for maintenance are always available for planned and unplanned maintenance
  • Continuous Improvement Support and Management in closing off tooling related problem-solving activities
  • Cost Saving implementation strategies
  • Ensure design standards are adhered to and aligned to design standard
  • Support closing off engineering related problem-solving activities
  • 5s Safety/Environmental
  • Ensure 5S Quality
  • Meet or exceed customer quality requirements
  • Analyze 2D drawings and 3D CAD data
  • Review die designs
  • Manufacturing approval of manufacturing processes for production in the organization
  • Support in trial activities
  • Delivery Improvement Management
  • Manage scrap
  • Risk based thinking
  • Manage IR and HR Items
  • Assist in Identify faults on Tooling
  • Ensure that part manufacture is done in accordance to agreed schedules so that the plant does not stop due to preventative maintenance not carried out
  • Assist Purchasing in Tooling related requirements
  • Responsible personal attendance and manage team attendance
  • People Development
  • Follow HR policies & procedures
  • Responsible for own personal development in line with company strategy

Requirements

  • Experience: 3 Years experience essential, Experience in a production engineering environment Maintenance / design of machinery & tooling Improvement management Experience in management of personnel

Qualifications

  • Grade12 Qualified Toolmaker
