About the Role
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire flow of materials and components through distribution channels, ensuring efficient operations and meeting customer requirements. This role requires a strong background in logistics or supply-chain management, with experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop the sites’ MP&L Department (Materials, Planning and Logistics – including Warehouse and Customer Service)
- Deliver strategic and tactical objectives throughout the function, ensuring efficient operation through all aspects of the department
- Liaise with other intercompany-based operations to ensure company annual objectives for improvements and cost reductions are exceeded
- Drive accountability to all areas of the department through the company standard accountability systems
- Implement Kaizen and Lean principles to ensure delivery is on time and in full through all external and internal customers
- Utilize key control in areas such as:
- BOM integrity
- Production Planning & contingency planning (in line with capacity plans)
- Supplier and materials scheduling
- Supplier and customer interface and visibility
- Stock Control (through classic Kanban systems)
- Assist with new product launch support
- Conduct robust analysis to maximise process efficiency through simplification and standardisation of each activity
- Collaborate with all supply chain links to eliminate waste, maximise service levels, and ensure delivery of KPI’s (both company and customer-driven)
- Hold full budgetary responsibility for all departmental budgets – including manning requirements for the whole function
- Ensure all customer requirements are met on time and in full through the MP&L team
- Maintain sites inventory to required levels each month as dictated by budget or central logistic
Requirements
- Matric Degree level education within a Managerial or Logistics focused discipline
- 5 years’ experience in Logistics or supply-chain management in a manufacturing environment (experience in the automotive sector would be advantageous)
