About the Role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Riverside store is seeking a Dispensary Support to join our team on a Fixed Term basis. The primary purpose of this role is to equip learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a registered Basic Pharmacist Assistant. This opportunity allows us to promote quality learning and development in our employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances under the direct personal supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Unpacking and merchandising of stock, cleaning of dispensary and OTC shelves as approved by the responsible pharmacist.
  • Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner within legal requirements.
  • Check medication for accuracy, including picking/packing/labelling, and be aware of common dosages and important drug interactions.
  • Control stock levels, manage cleanliness and packing organisation of shelves and medicine expiry dates.
  • Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports as requested by the dispensary manager and follow up appointments.
  • Assist with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls.
  • Provide information to individuals to promote health.
  • Scheme authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Matric or a Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science and/or Physical Science obtained at least an average of 50%.
  • Completed proficiency test approving registration with Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant.
