About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Riverside store is seeking a Dispensary Support to join our team on a Fixed Term basis. The primary purpose of this role is to equip learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a registered Basic Pharmacist Assistant. This opportunity allows us to promote quality learning and development in our employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances under the direct personal supervision of a pharmacist.
- Compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Unpacking and merchandising of stock, cleaning of dispensary and OTC shelves as approved by the responsible pharmacist.
- Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner within legal requirements.
- Check medication for accuracy, including picking/packing/labelling, and be aware of common dosages and important drug interactions.
- Control stock levels, manage cleanliness and packing organisation of shelves and medicine expiry dates.
- Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports as requested by the dispensary manager and follow up appointments.
- Assist with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls.
- Provide information to individuals to promote health.
- Scheme authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Matric or a Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science and/or Physical Science obtained at least an average of 50%.
- Completed proficiency test approving registration with Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant.
