About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Sous Chef to support our Head Chef in a fast-paced, high-volume retail kitchen environment in Edenvale, Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have strong culinary skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily kitchen operations
- Maintain high standards of food quality and safety
- Support team supervision
- Help ensure efficient stock management and smooth service delivery
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years experience in high-volume food production within a retail environment
- Strong knowledge of stock control and ordering
- Good understanding of Food cost, GPs and Meal Cost breakdowns
- Experience in staff management, including rostering and basic disciplinary processes
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
- Solid HACCP knowledge and experience
- Hospitality qualification (formal certificate or diploma required)
- Knowledge of packaging and food labelling will be beneficial
