About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Junior Pastry Sous Chef to join our luxury game lodge in the Sabi Sands region of Mpumalanga. As part of our culinary team, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional pastry and dessert experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily pastry kitchen operations under senior kitchen leadership guidance
- Ensure consistent delivery of a high-quality food experience for all guests
- Supervise food preparation, presentation, and hygienic service standards
- Assist with designing and implementing seasonal menus and new concepts
- Monitor equipment condition and ensure proper use and care
- Control breakages, food costs, and wastage through effective practices
- Implement and uphold health, safety, and hygiene procedures
- Manage stock rotation, portion control, and waste reduction strategies
- Communicate effectively with all departments to meet guest expectations
- Conduct detailed shift handovers to maintain operational continuity
Requirements
- 4–5 years’ experience in a pastry kitchen, including supervisory exposure
- Strong understanding of kitchen procedures, timing, and workflow planning
- Broad food knowledge with menu design capability
- Awareness of special dietary requirements and allergen management
- Ability to train, guide, and motivate kitchen team members
- Knowledge of hygiene standards, cleaning methods, and safety procedures

- Valid nationality or appropriate working visa (if applicable)
