About the Role

A leading food manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Compliance Coordinator to join their team in Montagu, Western Cape, in the Western Little Karoo. The role focuses on supporting and maintaining quality and food safety systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update supplier documentation, certifications, and product specifications
  • Assist with supplier risk assessments and approval of alternate suppliers and materials
  • Ensure compliance with food legislation, standards, and customer procedures
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory and governmental bodies
  • Manage document control and create/update internal documentation
  • Capture data and compile compliance and quality reports
  • Support and conduct internal audits, including hygiene and housekeeping audits
  • Assist with supplier quality assurance audits and manage non-conformances (NCRs)
  • Support implementation of the Food Safety and Quality Culture Program
  • Maintain and improve product traceability systems
  • Participate in mock recall exercises and corrective action processes
  • Control and manage the non-conformance system
  • Assist with quality contracts for products
  • Support training programs related to food safety and compliance
  • Assist with maintaining the BRC and related food safety systems

Requirements

  • BSc in Food Science or National Diploma in Food Technology
  • Experience in food safety and quality systems within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of FSSC 22000 and BRC standards (advantageous)
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in document control and compliance administration
  • Strong problem-solving ability across QC, production, and NPD environments
  • Effective communication and supplier liaison skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
