About the Role
The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for leading technical engineering efforts on various projects, ensuring that scope, schedule, quality, and budget objectives are met. This role requires strong mechanical engineering knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain technical integrity, scope definition, and quality standards across design, procurement, and construction
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams, providing technical guidance and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements and company standards
- Manage supplier and contractor interfaces and foster long-term service provider relationships
- Monitor progress and proactively address issues to support project delivery
- Manage technical information flow between stakeholders and ensure accurate documentation
- Oversee change control processes and scope alignment throughout the project lifecycle
- Support cost control and ensure deliverables are completed for client handover
- Facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration to maintain project integrity and schedule
Requirements
- National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- 3 years’ experience in project engineering for process plants (studies, basic and detailed engineering)
- 3 years’ engineering design experience in process plant construction
Qualifications
- BSc Eng / BTech in Mechanical Engineering (desirable)
- Candidate registration with ECSA
- Membership with SAIMechE
